Microsoft wins a battle against a botnet

U.S. – Microsoft said it had dismantled the botnet Waledac. This could spread up to 1.5 billion spams per day.

The diffusion capacity of spam Waledac has infected thousands of computers. This program was one of the most dangerous botnets U.S. but Microsoft eventually dismantled it during an operation that lasted three days.

The editor had complained earlier this week and 277 names of areas suspected to be administered by Waledac have been deleted. In addition, Microsoft has cut the connection between the botnet and thousands of infected computers. However, users should clean their machines to permanently remove the virus. Despite this feat, botnets can be replenished in a short time.
