Visitors Bing.com received a message from the browser instead of a search bar. Service has been for at least 45 minutes before returning at 7:10 pm PST.
Microsoft confirmed the questions on the Twitter account, and looked on the issue. Later, the following statement offered to serve as Bing-blog by Satya Nadella, Senior Vice President of Online Services:
The cause of the failure was a change of configuration during internal testing that have unforeseen and unfortunate consequences.
Once the problem has been detected, the change was reversed, created the site to return to normal behavior. Unfortunately, the detection and dismantling lasted about half an hour, during which time users could not use bing.com.
We strive to ensure a high level of operational excellence visit Bing. We are conducting an autopsy to determine how to improve our software and processes that need to prevent such things in future.
Seeking comments on a Microsoft representative did not immediately return an e-mail.
The loss comes after a difficult week in which Microsoft has announced a new search features Bing and improved mapping.
